100 cards for Ronald McDonald House

Each month I take a card class at Ronald McDonald House in Herston, teaching cards to any of the residents that need a break from the daily hospital visits or the long waiting times for babies to arrive or grow big enough to take home.
It has taken me a while to streamline my packing and I thought I had it pretty much down pat a year ago. However I have managed to get even smarter and now have it all in one plastic box. I do love it when things come together.

In this box I have 3 card kits and all that is needed to make them.

As well as doing the class I drop off cards for the residents to use. This month I was happy to leave 100 cards in the office.

The ladies in the office have these cards on hand for anyone that needs them, residents don't always have time to think of a birthday or anniversary, when there are more pressing things happening right now. So these cards are gratefully received.

Easter/Birthday card class - Sunday morning

This special Easter card class is going to combine with a Birthday card class. I have decided to combine them for the ladies that do not want to make and send Easter cards.

This is what we will be making and you may choose what sentiment you stamp. The card was inspired by a card created by Wendy Klein. This is my take on her card.

This one I love as it has a strip of glimmer paper that matches the Mint Macaron card. So pretty. I got my inspiration from an Easter card from a fellow demonstrator Jerry Hall.

For the third card, there is the choice of 2 Easter cards and one birthday card to choose from.

If you would like to attend this class and make 3 cards of your choice, please let me know as soon as possible as places are filling fast.

When: Sunday 19th March 10am
Cost: $10
Where: Zena's Craft Studio in Wellington Point (email me for the address)

Please RSVP so that I can prepare all the kits.

Please bring your ‘basic kit’ to each class. This includes a paper trimmer, tape runner, double sided foam tape, multipurpose liquid adhesive and scissors.

 * If you are a beginner and do not have a kit, there will be kits available for sale.

When my Big Shot starts squeeking and grinding, who ya gonna call? #menofstampinup aka, my clever husband.  I was having a little panic, thinking that my poor Big Shot was going to come to a grinding halt in my class. Never fear, he says and takes out his trusty screw driver.

So after removing several screws, the machine lay in pieces on my bench along with dust, tiny bits of card and a thinlit that I had lost 6 months ago.

So after cleaning up and putting back together, the test. Will it work, without grinding and squeeking? You bet it did! Thank you so much my dear husband. Good as new.

What does #menofstampinup mean? It all started at a Stampin' Up! event where our CEO Sara Douglas talked about giving thanks to the men around us who support us. So the hash tag was born, pretty neat don't you think?

Challenge entry #C105

This card was inspired by the Colour Inkspiration challenge on facebook #CI05 and is my entry in the new Colour Challenge.

The colours this fortnight are Blushing Bride, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand.

blushing bride, soft sky, sahara sand, zena kennedy independent stampin up demonstrator,

I used my Stampin Spots that I have inked up in all the colours. (Read previous post on why I have done this)

I tapped each of them on to a sheet of acetate, spritzed and then smooshed the card over the acetate.

Card made using blushing bride,Soft Sky, Sahara Sand by Stampin' up! Australia - zena kennedy,

I love how these colours blended together, giving a soft gentle feel to this card. A nice card for someone just to tell them you are thinking of them. This one will be going to a dear neighbour of mine that is going through a bad time at the moment.

My birthday just keeps on keeping on

This has just been the best birthday I have had. So many well wishes from everyone and gorgeous cards. I just got another one yesterday and had to show it. Leisha Ward is another Stampin' Up! demonstrator and sent me this lovely acetate card.

Leisha Wards card for my birthday using acetate

I have just had a class on using acetate in cards and now here is some more inspiration. Looks like I may have to have another acetate class.

A light bulb moment - I'm excited!

Yes I am very excited. I have just come up with a great idea for getting all my ink pads and ink refills, without breaking the bank.

We have a place up the coast that we head up to quite often. When we are up there I like to grab my card supplies and have a little play. Up until now I have been trudging all my inks up there and then trudging them all the way home. My husband suggested I should leave them up there. Of course I would love to do that, but I need them down here as well and who can afford to have an extra set of ink pads in all the colour families?

Light bulb moment!!

Why not use the Uninked spots and Ink Refills

The Uninked spots have 5 in the packet, so I would need 2 packs. I then thought about making a box for them all. Uh oh, another light bulb moment. Why not house them in the Stamp Cases that we sell?

Full Wide Stamp Cases (4 cases) 127551 $12.00

When I worked all this out the cost came to $91 and of course it is Sale A Bration, so I get a free product. I think I have solved my problem and get rewarded for it as well.

Here is the break down...
Full Wide Stamp Cases (4 cases) 127551 $12.00
Uninked Stampin' Spots (Pack of 5) 141822 $15.75 (I need 2 packs)
Brights Classic Stampin' Ink Refills 10 Bottles 131162 $47.50

So, guess who is putting an order in for ALL the colour families (Brights, Subtles, Regals & In Colors)? Not only will I save myself some dollars by buying the Refills in bulk, I will be rewarded with a gift or two and no more trudging my inks back and forth. Yipee!!

If you like this idea and also want a Sale A Bration freebie then email me or go online and place an order yourself.

Keep it simple cards

Wednesday class was so enjoyable. Everyone was thrilled with the cards they made. I love simple and easy to make cards, don't you?

This card could very easily be a male card. Take away the butterfly and you have a clean and simple birthday card for any male.

Keep it simple

This Wednesday morning and Friday evening class is all about keeping it simple. All too often we pile everything on our cards trying to make them look arty. When sometimes simple is all that is needed.

I got reminded of this in a challenge that I am doing. One of the cards that I admired the most was the simplest one there and yet it stood out. I know we all like to use our bling and our dies, but sometimes we should just keep it simple.

Come along and make 3 simple cards either this Wednesday morning or Friday evening.

Wednesday 8th March 10am
 Friday: 10th March 7pm

BYOP Buy you own present

This card is another one from the colour challenge from the Facebook group Colour Inkspiration. The colours this time were Delightful Dijon, Crushed Curry, Elegant Eggplant (my fave) and Whisper White.

For some reason this just screamed shabby to me and yet I have seen the most beautiful clean and simple cards made in these colours over on the Facebook Group. I love these challenges, they bring out so much hidden talent in people.

If you want to join in the challenge then head on over.

Here is my take on these colours.

Just because it's cute

I had to show you this, just because it's cute. Stampin' Up! sent us a virtual Valentines. Just a bit of fun but isn't it so cute. Even though it is past valentines, I thought I would still share and pass the love around virtually. If you click on the image you can enlarge it and you will see the words more clearly. Such a cutie pie stamp set.

The Tasty Truck Stamp Set is one of the freebies during Sale-a-bration.
