Fun with piggies

I know we live in the Sunshine State but when winter hits Brrrr it gets cold. The weather has been so cold and family have not been well so it was time to have some fun and bring a little sunshine into our lives. So our Wednesday class was dedicated to having a bit of FUN.

First we needed a bit of sunshine and a reminder of summer. The Watercolour Words was perfect for that. Not only the Just for You sentiment that we stamped in the middle with Early Espresso ink, but also all the cute little images. Sunglasses, suns, thongs, bucket and spades with some splatters for good measure. We prepared the card by sponging in several colours randomly around the edge, this one used Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Melon Mambo and Berrmuda Bay. The images were then randomly stamped using Early Espresso. The thongs were stamped again and cut out. These were then added with dimensionals.

Popped on some Melon Mambo spots.

Then out came our cute This Little Piggie stamp set.

The base card we embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder. The piggies were stamped with Early Espresso. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the correct placement for the top one. Such a handy little tool. We used the Vertical Greetings stamp set for the sentiment. Mounted this on Melon Mambo and then on to the base. You can barely see it but we water coloured the sky and popped in a couple of clouds from the Piggie stamp set.  Pretty cute ey!!

Then our final card, we masked the centre of the card with a circle and stamped the base using the Hardwood Stamp set. We then sponged and put in some clouds on the piece we had masked. The window was cut out of Crumb Cake using the Circle framelits. Piggie was stamped on a piece of Whisper White and sponged. We coloured his ears and snout with Blushing Bride. He popped in behind the window and his body trimmed away. The window went up on dimensionals.
We cut 2 Hello's one in Early Espresso and one in Crumb Cake. The Early Espresso is made to look like a shadow behind.
The Friend sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set. You just had to squeal with delight with this one don't you recon?

After the class was over I wanted to make another beach card for a friend. This time I wanted a bit more Melon Mambo to come through. This is how it turned out. Which one do you fancy the top one of this pink one?

Scrapbooking a different way

Since I have become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I have met some wonderful people, the team I belong to is named the Paper Angels and what Angels they are, they are kind, sharing and so talented.

One such Paper Angel is our very talented Kathy Dudley. She would disagree with me, she is so shy about her talent. She has just created a lovely card for her son for his 21st birthday.

It is a double tri shutter card. On the front we have the gold foil paper forming the birthday greetings and the 21 from our Large Number Framelits. Then take a peek inside and see the real beauty of this card. A walk through the life of her son.

Partly open, look at that cute little boy on the left and a handsome young man on the right.
..
Fully open, what a wonderful trip through this young mans life.
I think she is a very talented lady, she has made something that I think her son will cherish. This is scrapbooking in a very different way. So what do you think?

Let's be silly Wednesday card class

Why do we want to be silly?
Everyone I talk to seems to have a story to tell about a loved one having a hard time this winter, this winter seems to have brought out some awful colds and flu. I felt it was time to bring on the sunshine with a little silliness. So these cards are all about having fun with paper and ink.

Do you need a bit of sunshine therapy?

Retiform fun

The Retiform technique is not for everyone, but I actually love it. I suppose because it brings a little bit of creativity into the equation.

We had a great Wednesday morning cad class and made some lovely cards that were all slightly different. We started out a bit differently, instead of creating one card at a time, The Retiform base was created first, a little bit like a one sheet wonder but this time it was a half sheet wonder.

This was the sponging and masking part done. We used Crumb Cake and Soft Sky.

This was the stamping part done, I used the Awesomely Artistic stamp set. This was the base completed for 3 cards. Some of the ladies used 2 different stamp sets and decided to cut their card first and then stamp.

The first card was layered on to a pice of Crumb Cake and then on to Soft Sky base. The happy Birthday came from the Happy Birthday thinlits die, which is part of one of the bundles that I couldn't resist.

The next card was layered on to Soft Sky and then layered on to the Whisper White base. The sentiment Let's Celebrate was stamped onto the banner stamp that is sadly retired. It was the Balloon Adventures stamp set.

Finally the last card, it was mounted on a Crumb Cake base. The little strip of Soft Sky was run through the Woodgrain embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped in Crumb cake and then layered using the Layering Ovals Framelits.

The cards that everyone made were so individual and I loved what they all did with them. Here are some of them. Aren't they just so unique?

Last Wednesday class reveal

How remiss of me I had thought that I had already posted the cards we made last week. Sorry about that friends. Here they are now, better late than never hey!

As I didn't have time to organise a catalogue launch this year I decided that this class would be like a mini launch. So we tried out the sponge brayer and a new embossing folder on our new glossy card stock.

Sponge brayer zena kennedy independent stampin up demonstrator

We used the Petal Burst embossing folder, then softly ran over it with our sponge brayer. Layered it on to Smokey Slate, tied a Melon Mambo knot.

The new Happy Birthday thinlit was cut out of Smokey Slate and adhered to the front.

Looks great in Landscape as well...

We then tried out our Embossing paste and one of our new stamp sets for the balloons, Happy Birthday Gorgeous I am loving the Lemon Lime Twist card stock too.

We also used the embossing paste again, this time colouring it with Daffodil Delight ink refill, then added our very popular daisy. The daisy was punched out twice and then sponged with daffodil delight.

This stamp set and punch has become the most popular bundle from this catalogue.
