We have the men covered...

It is so hard sometime not to put bling and ribbons on everything, however we managed to restrain ourselves and create three lovely, simple male cards. Although I recon I'd be happy to receive any of them as well.

Each card we used Crumb Cake ink to create our background. The edge of each card was masked to allow for a clean border and then we chose the stamps to use.

This card we used the new Tree rings stamp set, then drew around the edge to form a fancy border. The sentiment is one of our new punches and the Crumb Cake card was punched out using our new Starburst punch. This punch is going to be one of my favourites, I think.

This next card we used a retired stamp set called Nailed It. As you can see we used the same sentiment and punch. Once again framing it with the scribbly lines.

I'm not sure which card is my favourite, but this one we used my good old faithful background stamp called Hardwood. This is such a popular stamp set and I love it.

All Christmas cards today

We all made Christmas cards in our Wednesday class using the new Embossing Paste.

This card we used the embossing paste and then spritzed in Wild Wasabi. I added about 10 drops of Wild Wasabi ink refill to the spritzer and then filled with Rubbing Alcohol.

You can't see very well with this one, but it truly sparkles. We used the embossing paste and then sprinkled with our fine glitter Dazzling Diamonds. The tree was a piece of left over Pear Pizzazz left over from the week before. We worked it over with Wink of stella.

Then this lovely one we used the paste again and then sprinkled with Copper Embossing powder and then heat embossed.

Note: Make sure if you do this technique that you use the Embossing Buddy first, then use the paste.

They all looked so different but all basically the same design. By the way if you didn't want to use the Embossing Paste this would look just as stunning suing the stars and sponging or spritzing.

If you would like to purchase the Embossing Paste and have a play email me with your order of go to my Online store and get it sent straight to your door.

12 cards in 2 hours Easy, Peasy

Our Christmas card Stamp a Stack really did only take 2 hours to make these 12 cards. We made 4 cards of 3 designs. Everyone was amazed, as it has been known that our 3 cards take more time than that.

I think it was the simplicity of these cards. I used many of my old favourite stamp sets and designer series paper from a few catalogues back.

Look at the new Starburst behind the 2" circle. I think I am going to use this Starburst punch quite a bit. The sentiment is from a favourite retired stamp set Tin of Tags.

The last card is the only one we used all new products. The Carols of Christmas is an early release from the Holiday Catalogue.

One hundred minus one

Yesterday I went to Bluecare to take my usual card class with the residents. I have been volunteering there for over 4 years and love the people that attend my classes.                    Of course there are a few teacher's pets. Oz is one of these special people. He has been coming from the very first day and has improved in his card making skills over the years.
Because of my husbands health, I had missed an entire month and Oz's birthday. So yesterday in class he told me he had received lots of cards for his  "One hundred minus one" birthday. Isn't that just the cutest way of saying you are 99.

Here is a picture of Oz and I, taken yesterday. He wanted me to show everyone that even a one hundred minus one person can make cards.

a lovely card and cake combo

I just have to share another of Kathy Dudley's creations. She hides her talent under a bushell. Not only is she a great card maker but her cakes are brilliant. So, so, talented. You may remember her from another post I did recently about her sons 21st.

This time she has made a card and a cake that match, for her grandsons 2nd birthday. I think she is such a clever clogs. She has even given me some great measurements too. How about that, don't you recon she is a talented lady?

The start of the Christmas stash

Thank goodness I can say I have finally started my Christmas stash. This is what we made today.

The technique we used in this card is called Rock and Roll. We inked up the stamp in Old Olive and then rocked and rolled the stamp in Cherry Cobbler. Quite a lovely technique, don't you think? This stamp set is very old but still one of my favourites.

For this card we used a type of smooshing technique. We used the new glossy card stock, spritzed it with water and then smooshed 3 inks over the card using an acrylic block that had in turn been inked up with So Saffron, Soft Sky and Wisteria Wonder.

With this card we used the Pretty Pines stamp set. The Noel was cut out after it was stamped in Emerald Envy. To give it a little sparkle we filled in the Noel with Wink of Stella.

How to scare the cat...

My husband was sitting on the verandah soaking up the sun with our cat Hamish at his feet, next minute Hamish awoke frightened by some loud noises. He walked up and down the verandah before he came back and settled down on my husbands lap this time. Once again he was woken up, ears twitching and ready to run and hide. My husband patted and stroked him, calming him down and telling him " It's ok Hamie Waymie, it's just mum down stairs having fun with her ladies."

Yes it was me and my lovely bunch of ladies giggling, well maybe we weren't just giggling, I suppose if we disturbed the cat it may have been a bit louder. Anyway it was a great morning and we made 3 very different cards. It was all about shaped cards and this led to a lot of chuckles over misshapen bottles and wonky left feet.

The first card was an apron. We stamped, coloured and fussy cut all the pocket inserts. We used the Crafting Forever stamp set.

The next was the bottle, this is when all the giggles began. Oh dear, how hard can it be to add a layer of textured Brushed Gold card to a bottle so that it follows the line of the bottle!!
The label was punched using our brand new Pretty Label punch.

Thankfully we finally made it to the last card. It was a cute little thong in Daffodil Delight. The new Daisy Delight bundle was used for this one. We stamped the daisy in Daffodil Delight and then sponged the outer edges in Pumpkin Pie. Then stamped on Whisper White and punched out the daisy.

The inside needed something so out came the retired stamp set Day at the Beach for the sun and Sunshine Sayings for the sentiment.

Oh and in case you were wondering what our scardy cat Hamish looks like, here he is.
