Note Card Box

 After being asked to show how to make different styles of boxes, I then created a box to hold our Note Cards and envelopes.

The box was decorated using the Dandy Garden DSP. I managed to get 3 items out of one piece of 6" x 6" DSP. I cut 1^1/2" off the bottom and then cut the remainder in half. One half I decorated the lid of the box the other half went on the front of a note card. The 1^1/2" strip was cut in half and adheared top and bottom to another note card. I then added the sentiment strip in the centre.

BOX BASE - Start with a 9^3/8”x 7^7/8” piece of card.
1. Box Base - Start with a 9^3/8”x 7^7/8” piece of card. 

 2. On the long side score at 1”, 2” , 7^3/8”, 8^3/8”, 

 3. Turn to short side and score 1”,2”, 5^7/8”, 6^7/8” 

4. Cut up each corner to the second score line, you will be cutting a L shape out of each corner, leaving a tab. 

5. Fold on all the score lines, to make a crisp edge and assemble by tucking the corner tabs in and folding the edges over the tab. Repeat this on each edge, the tabs tucked in on each side. 

 6. BOX TOP - Start with a 9^1/2”x 8” piece of card. On the long side, score at 1”, 2”, 7^1/2”, 8^1/2”, Turn to short side and score 1”,2”, 6”, 7” Follow the cutting and folding instructions for the box base assembly. Decorate as desired.

Memory Keeping Made Easy

Filling the album pages is easy! Simply insert photos, then add double-sided cards, specialty cards, and embellishments from the Memories & More Card Pack for a super-simple way to preserve your memories.

For extra fun, you may want to decorate the album cover. As you can see with our masculine Hello Adventure Album, we fussy cut images and sentiments using World of Good Memories & More Cards. The torn edges on the Designer Series Paper add a rugged texture—or you might want to add a little ink spatter using a Water Painter and ink to give it a “grunge” look and feel.

To create the Beautiful Baby Girl Album, we fussy cut flowers and die-cut letters (using Playful Alphabet Dies) from the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper. We also stamped floral images on the Designer Series Paper for added interest. The result is pretty and feminine and oh-so-easy to achieve!

SIMPLE STAMPING

 

Simple stamping is fun for everyone. Whether you’re brand new to papercrafting or you just want to stamp a greeting to add to a plate of cookies, we all need ideas for quick cards.

To make simple cards with a touch of pizzazz, use the “stamp-off” technique as Stampin' Up! did here with the Love of Leaves Stamp Set. 1) Ink the stamp. 2) Stamp the image 3) Re-stamp the image one or more times without re-inking it. This technique gives your card sophistication and depth without a lot of effort—and you get several shades of ink from one ink pad. Just add a bow and a sentiment and you’re done!

You can always add a touch of colour to a card using a simple Blender Pen trick. (Stampin' Up! used the wheelbarrow image from the Autumn Goodness Stamp Set.) 1) Stamp the image 2) Go over the stamped lines with the Blender Pen to colour in the wheelbarrow. So nifty! Plus, you’ve added a touch of artistry that doesn’t require a lot of effort.

Stampin' Up! used the stunningly beautiful Autumn Greetings Stamp Set to create our final example—and to show you how stamped cardstock layers can add visual complexity without requiring a ton of work. Stamp one layer with a large stamp and adhere it to the card front. Then add a stamped tag—popped up with a Stampin’ Dimensional. It looks sophisticated, yet it’s easy to do. Simple stamping at its finest!

Still working on using up all my retired Designer Series Paper. This time cute little shirts used up quite a few papers.

Origami Square Fold

More cards using more of my DSP. These cards are all made using the Origami Fold.
Take a square piece of paper, fold each corner into the centre, then fold back to form an open square.

This card is 4 x4 Daffodil Delight with a layer of Night of Navy then the Origami fold using the DSP The sentiment is from Dressed to Impress stamp set

This card is 4 x4 Blackberry Bliss with a layer of Whisper White then the Origami fold using the DSP The sentiment is from Dressed to Impress stamp set.

A Grand Kid Bokeh technique

BOKEH! What is this technique? Wikipedia states,"In photography, bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light" This "blur" is achieved with layers of sponging.

This card was sponged with Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo. For the next sponge layer a mask is placed over the sponging. The mask is made up of different sized circles. This is then sponged over with Whisper White. The last layer is another masking layer but the circles are even smaller. Sponge over these with Whisper White.  This has then been adhered to Coastal Cabana base. The sentiment is from A Grand Kid stamp set. I love this new stamp set, so many great sentiments for grandchildren.

This card was created using Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather and Blushing Bride. A mush softer "blur" It was then layered on to Daffodil Delight card.

One Year old card

This card was put together very quickly and used some retired stamp sets that I still love. My cousin asked for a last minute card for a 1year old. She described him as very musical and loved animals. I must have had my mojo working as ideas just came flooding in. I used Balmy blue card, embossed it with a retired embossing folder, stamped the keyboard and Happy Birthday sentiment using my Stamparatus. Then I masked the keyboard and stamped the giraffe from Animal Outing. The giraffe's were coloured with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Blends. The other sentiment was fussy cut and then layered on to a piece of Balmy Blue, which was then fussy cut.

The sentiments were all from Music from the heart,  The yellow layer is Daffodil Delight  The number one was stamped in Balmy Blue ink and adhered to the Daffodil Delight circle. She was very happy with it. Isn’t it good when the right side of the brain takes over!!!

LET ME INSPIRE YOU

Do you need an extra dose of inspiration? Don’t worry—it’s right at your fingertips. All you need is a catalogue and a willingness to experiment. Start by flipping through the annual or January–June catalogue and pick a project that catches your attention. Then, CASE it (Copy And Share Everything)!
Here’s how it works—you choose one aspect of your chosen inspiration piece and copy it on a new project. Let's look at the Enjoy the Little Things card from page 125 of the annual catalogue as the inspiration piece. Then, follow these CASEing techniques to create three additional projects.

• Copy the colour scheme. The Great Places card uses the same colour scheme as the inspiration piece. 
• Copy the technique. The Thanks card copies the technique of the original card by incorporating a die-cut background with separate cut-out pieces added back in. 
• Copy the layout. Take the guesswork out of project design by using the inspiration piece as a template, the same as on the Love & Joy card. Simply mimic the design but substitute different stamps, paper, and accessories.

Forever Blossoms cards

This class was so full on with all the leaves, flowers and buds, but the final cards made it all worthwhile. We used the Forever Blossoms Bundle

We used Flirty Flamingo card stock, a layer of Whisper White behind a patterned retired Flirty Flamingo DSP. The blossoms were coloured using Daffodil Delight and Old Olive. We finished off with a grouping of Pearls.

This card has no sentiment and is arranged in such a way that it can either be portrait of landscape.

We used Soft Suede card stock, the frame was made using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. The blossoms this time were coloured using Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade.

In this last card we used Sahara Sand card stock and some retired Christmas DSP. I love that this DSP can be used for something other than Christmas. The sentiment was stamped on to the oval from the Stitched Shapes dies. The flowers and leaves were then sponged with Sahara Sand and placed around the oval.

The pearls were embossed with Copper embossing powder.

I think you would agree, these cards are lovely and everyone loved making them.
