Colour Challenge#9

When I joined in on a Facebook Group called Colour INKspiration I thought it would help stretch my creativity a little. I am pleased to say I am enjoying each challenge and this one I particularly loved. The colours are Cherry Cobbler, Dapper Denim and Pool Party, all colours that I love and actually use quite a bit. However it was the photo that they put up for inspiration that had me hooked. I just loved the collage of images and colours so I decided to just recreate it with my Stampin' Up! products. I enjoyed making a collage in a frame last week for my great niece's first birthday, so decided  another frame was just the ticket. Oh and if you are looking back at past posts to find the other frame, no, I have not put it up yet as I wanted it to be a surprise. So stay tuned it is coming.

So what do you recon, isn't this the most inspiring  piece of art?
.
I was going to draw the lady myself but then decided to use the Beautuiful You lady and dress her in the challenge colours. Her dress was striped Dapper Denim and I coloured the white in with a Cherry Cobbler Write Marker. Her had is Cherry Cobbler with a fringe of Dapper Denim ribbon.

The top and bottom panel she is in has an old retired Build a Blossom stamp set stamped and punched out and then sponged.

The other panel I used the retired blossom punch for the red flower and the Fun Flower punch for the Pool Party one. The centre image was stamped  with Cherry Cobbler and Dapper Denim.

The big side panel was sponged, the trees were inked up on the woodland embossing folder and then fussy cut to go over the sponged base.

The whole lot was layered on to some very old retired DSP that I had wiped my Cherry Cobbler ink pad over and then wet a very wide paint brush and wiped it across the paper.

So there you have it my version for Colour INKspiration #9.

It is now in a black frame and my husband has taken it and put it on our TV display cabinet and wants it to stay. Isn't he the sweetest?

BYOP Buy you own present

This card is another one from the colour challenge from the Facebook group Colour Inkspiration. The colours this time were Delightful Dijon, Crushed Curry, Elegant Eggplant (my fave) and Whisper White.

For some reason this just screamed shabby to me and yet I have seen the most beautiful clean and simple cards made in these colours over on the Facebook Group. I love these challenges, they bring out so much hidden talent in people.

If you want to join in the challenge then head on over.

Here is my take on these colours.

Don't Quit Your Day Dream

The third Colour INKspiration Challenge is a fun beach themed, colour palette. I knew exactly what I wanted to make...

One of my ladies in a bikini at the beach...

I was going to hand draw her and then I took a closer look at the Beautiful You stamp set and thought, mask the hem line, mask the bust line, mast the sleeves and I have myself a ready made body to work with. All I had to do then was sponge her skin and dress her.
I had no problem using the Marina Mist. My little lady has her bikini and hat using the Marina Mist florals from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack. I wasn't keen on drawing in her feet (not good with feet and hands haha) so decided that the puddle from the other stamp would work beautifully. So she is up to her ankles in water.

I used our water colour paper to put a wash of Soft Sky, Marina Mist and Soft Suede. I stamped the puddle in Soft Suede from the Beautiful You stamp set, I then cut a slot in the puddle for her legs to go through.

The sentiment was one of the Free stamp sets that we are getting from Sale a bration at the moment. It coordinates with the Custom Tee Photopolymer Stamp Set I love the words, "Don't quit your day dream"

The clouds I hand drew them in Soft Sky, after looking at the shape of the biggest one from Up and Away Thinlits Die . The surf board was hand cut and then stamped in Peekaboo Peach with the Watercolor Words Photopolymer Stamp Set.

I ripped a piece of Marina Mist for the scene to sit on and then decided the scene should also be ripped. What do you think, is she living her Dream?

Colour challenge

I have decided to try a colour challenge with the Colour INKspiration crew. It is all going to be done on Facebook, but if we have a blog we can post there as well. So stay tuned I am going to try and keep on doing the colour challenge bi-monthly. It should be loads of fun and inspiration will be flowing freely.

This is a card I made for the pre challenge. The colours we were to use are Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Mint Macaron. I masked a Whisper White piece of card and sponged the three colours. Then stamped over the sponging. The stamp set was one of our new ones from the Occasional Catalogue. It is the Balloon Adventures. The Mint Macaron base was created using the Scallop Tog Punch.

So what do you recon? Head on over to Facebook and check out all the other cards, there are so many talented people out there don't you think???
