Happy New Year to all the crafters out there. Classes are finally starting back up again. The first one is on Friday evening the 1st February. I have been very excited about some of the new products that I have been playing with over the last few weeks. I absolutely love one of the stamp sets that is all about our men. The cards we made - love em!

Another week gone by in a snap, I don't know about you but this year seems to be flying by. It won't be long before everyone is planning Christmas in July.

This weeks cards we used left overs from a couple of classes back, I love it when you can make more than one card out of an embellishment.

This one the "friend" has been cut out of the frame. Such a simple card don't you think? The images are from the retired Lovely Inside and Out stamp set

This Wild Wasabi card is using the left over snippet of last weeks embellishment. The background is also using the retired Lovely Inside and Out stamp set.

Everyone loved this card, it was so soft and delicate. It was suggested that it would make a lovely baby card.

The Soft Sky piece above  was the left over from our Daisy card a few classes back.

Wednesday's simple class

As requested we did a simple card class. We concentrated on one design 3 ways. The first was just stamping and a pop of ribbon. Then we blinged it up for the next card and for the final card we pulled out all stops and went for DSP, layers and embellishments done using the matching framelits.

This was the first, the flowers and leaves were stamped using the Cake Soiree stamp set from the Cake Soiree bundle, a thin strip of DSP in Lemon Lime Twist was adhered to a strip of Whisper White. The sentiment was stamped in Lemon Lime Twist and the Bakers Twine finished it off.

The second one we added a bit of bling to the basic design and embossed the Whisper White strip. We changed the ribbon to sit below the bannered sentiment, using the lovely striped Lemon Lime Twist mini ribbon. Pretty cute, don't you think?

Finally for our last card, we adhered the DSP Lemon Lime Twist to the front of the card and then instead of stamping the flowers and leaves we cut them out using the Sweet Cake Framelits that coordinates with the Cake Soiree stamp set. The sentiment we used both the Lemon Lime Twist ink and Basic Black for the Happy Birthday

I think everyone had a ball making these cards, even though the design was the same. If you love this bundle and are thinking of purchasing it. What can we make with our Glossy White card

I love it when I am asked to come up with some ideas for our products. One of my friends asked if I could have a class on Glossy White Card. Well little did she know it is a favourite of mine as it lends itself to getting very arty farty.

We used Elegant Eggplant and Island Indigo ink refills dropped on to a cotton ball that had a few drops of rubbing alcohol on it. We then pounced this all over the Glossy card and then used a clean cotton ball to dry up the ink. We cut out the merry and mounted this on to Elegant Eggplant and then on to an embossed Island Indigo base. The banner was stamped with an old Christmas stamp in Elegant Eggplant and we punched out the copper foil with the new border punch.

The Merry that we cut out didn't go to waste, it was adhered to a Whisper White embossed base and then the same banner configuration, this time using the Champagne foil, yum, quite like this foil.

Now take heart if you ever make a mistake when producing your beautiful cards, as there is NO mistakes, only an opportunity to be more creative. As I was showing everyone how to cut the Merry, I neglected to cut my own before I adhered it to the Elegant Eggplant mat. No problem, I stamped a Christmas sentiment in Black Momento Ink. the photo isn't great, but it turned out clear although a little wonky, handmade RIGHT!!!

This last card lends itself to masculine projects by using the Crumb Cake and Early Espresso inks. All you need to do is drag Crumb Cake down the Glossy card to cover, then tip the pad on its side and drag down going across the card. Change to the Early Espresso and drag it down as well. If the dark ends up too dark, then drag some more Crumb Cake down, or as one of my ladies did rub with your finger.

3 cards, 3 colours and 1 stamp set

This was last weeks Wednesday morning class, just a tad late. Why was I so late posting this you are asking?

I am getting ready for quite a few events. The first one off the rank is the Quota Craft a Gift Fair. They have been having this event for several years now and all funds raised on the day go to Aspergers Syndrome and Clef Pals. So if you have nothing too important on Sunday 15th October then head over to PCYC Carindale and take a look at what the talented people at this Fair have produced.

Anyway on with the class reveal. Each of these cards was stamped with Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide, and Lemon Lime Twist. All we have done is change the layers to match the biggest and smallest stamp colours. In this, Just for you card, the pink layer matches the largest stamp and the the card base matches the small stamp.

Just for you zena kennedy, independent stampin up demonstrator

This one the base card is the pink so the smallest stamp is used and the largest stamp matches the Lemon Lime Twist. Pretty, don't you think?

zena kennedy, independent stampin up demonstrator

This Christmas card follows the same rule Tranquil Tide card layer matches the largest stamp and Lemon Lime Twist the small one. Such a different use of colours for a Christmas card, but I think it works. What do you recon?

I loved doing this class and everyone was inspired to go search out a stamp set and recreate these 3 cards.

Thinking outside the square with our dies

Flourishes, circles and flowers with a little twist.

By placing the cutting plate only where you want the cut to finish you get a partial shape cut through. The rest is cut away with a scalpel to create a straight line.

Can you see what I meant ? Sometimes I'm a bit hazey at describing how to do something, seeing how it is done is easier for me. So I do hope you can see how this was done.

The bottom of the Whisper White layer was stamped in Wisteria Wonder with the sentiment out of an old but favourite stamp set Million and One.  This layer was adhered to a base of Wisteria Wonder and two strips of Wisteria Wonder were adhered just below the thinlit cut out.

Million and One Zena Kennedy Independent Stampin Up demonstrator

I loved doing this one, such a delicate design and I have someone in mind to send this to after class. The three flowers were cut out of Pink Pirouette card, using the Flourish Thinlits. Another set of flowers was cut out of Pink Pirouette. A piece of Whisper White is placed inside to show through the cut out area. One of the sets of flowers was then adhered in over the Whisper White. Then the other set of flowers was adhered on top giving a deep design to the flowers.

The sentiment I chose was from the stamp set You've Got This, another favourite. An extra little flower was added to finish it off.

You've Got This Zena Kennedy Independent Stampin Up demonstrator

The last card started out quite plain on the outside, as it was supposed to be all about the inside popping, however it didn't work out as I had thought and the outside is just as busy as the inside.

The inside was created as a pop up by placing the plates over the circle and leaving a smidgen not covered so that it did not cut. The flower this time is stamped from the Special Reason stamp set, along with the sentiment on the front and inside.

Beautiful You goes to the beach

During the Friday night class, one of the girls wanted to make a mothers day card from one of them. She wanted it to have a beachy theme as her mother in law lives on Stradbroke Island. She didn't want to use the middle one or the end one. So after a few  suggestions and a fiddle with the left over half circle I came up with using it as a sarong tying a belt on the hips with Linen Thread. The hat we made from Tip top Taupe and tied Linen thread around the band. She stamped Happy Mother's Day on the layered strips.

Life is about the dance zena kennedy independent stampin up demonstrator

I had a few halves left over. So while we were chatting I fiddled and came up with another sarong. That fixed one half, what could I do with another? Why not have her hold an umbrella and paper piece it. So I did and this is my version, unfortunately I didn't take a photo of my friends lovely card.

Keep it simple cards

Wednesday class was so enjoyable. Everyone was thrilled with the cards they made. I love simple and easy to make cards, don't you?

This card could very easily be a male card. Take away the butterfly and you have a clean and simple birthday card for any male.
