Can't let it go

Have you got a stamp set that you just can't let go of? I have a few and one of them is Betsy's Blossom. I brought it back out for a class the other afternoon. The sentiment is from another very old stamp set called Live the Dream, that once again I would not part with. I tried one as a landscape layout and one as a portrait. Each has it's own cuteness don't you think?

So what is your stamp set that you can't let go?

I have been making heaps of cards with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits. They are lovely and I am having so much fun with them. This card looks so much nicer in real life. Unfortunately the gold foil paper does not photograph too well. I embossed the Black card with the new Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, then layered the gold Sleigh Ride on top. Scattered a few gold stars added a sentiment and Bob's your uncle.

Rawr is Dinosaur for Merry Christmas

I started out trying to make a card using a technique I had seen. It is stamping on the embossing folder, but it didn't work out too well. However it did make me head in another direction, so I got out my Dinosaurs. Then I headed off in another direction haha! I decided I wanted the Dinosaurs to be wishing a Merry Christmas. Talk about start with one idea and end up with Dinosaurs wishing everyone Merry Christmas. How often does this happen to you?

I really love the new Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the new techniques that are being used with it. The dinosaurs came from the stamp set No Bones About It.

Class this Wednesday

I have had a few people ask if my Classes are on this Wednesday because of school holidays. Yes they are, we will be making 3 lovely cards and I am still debating if one of them will be a Christmas card just to get you started, especially if you didn't attend my Stamp a Stack. The card below is so lovely I would really like to share the technique.

Preparing for the Christmas Card Workshop

The first of our Paper Angels Christmas Card Workshops is nearly upon us. If you are wanting to attend the Carina Leagues Club venue on the 18th October, then you need to book and pay as soon as possible. There are several venues, some on the Northside and some even up on the Sunshine Coast. So check out the flyer and see which one is the one for you and contact me for more details.

Two of the Paper Angels came to my studio to prepare their samples for the day. I know everyone will love all the projects.

Let's think outside the square

When a new product is released, I am always looking for what other things you can do with it. A punch may not be just for making an Owl, by thinking outside the square an Owl punch turns into a Rose or a Tulip or even a spooky ghost.

So why just use the Fine Tip Glue just to glue with. I know it is great for adhering delicately detailed paper die cuts, teensy embellishments, and bits of glitter.  So I said to myself, why not use it in an arty farty way. So I decided to try squiggling over some Whisper White card. I left it over night to dry and then grabbed my sponges. I sponged randomly Lost Lagoon and Rich Razzleberry. I then cut it into 3 strips and sponged around the edges in Lost Lagoon. They were then adhered to Lost Lagoon and then onto a Whisper White card base.

The Lost Lagoon ribbon under the banner was frayed to form a fringe. I kept the frayed bits and tied them into a bow. I am really pleased with how it turned out. So next time you get something new, why not try and think outside the square.

Awesomely Artistic is awesome

This stamp set is just as it's name implies, Awesomely Artistic.

The first two cards are only slightly different. I added the Happy Birthday sentiment to the first one. Both were stamped first with Blackberry Bliss and Mint Macaron and then run through the embossing folder using the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. To make the wall POP I sponged it with Crumb Cake.

This one I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set to the banner.  These banners were made using the Banner Triple Punch. Each one of these cards I stamped in Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss ink.

Gift card pack

Wondering what to give the teacher or maybe a friend. Why not make up a few gift cards with matching envelopes and pop them in a beautiful decorated box.

I wanted to use my new Sleigh Ride Edgelits with the Silver Foil paper and I needed just a little something in the background. What better than silver embossed splatters from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I made the envelopes with my trusty Envelope Punch Board using the Smokey Slate paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. What a great stack this is and it seems to have this lovely sheen on the papers which makes the Soft Suede look golden and the Smokey Slate silvery.

I then made this box again using the Envelope Punch Board and a sheet of Smokey Slate Neutrals stack. Instead of making it into a closed box I decided to tuck the flaps in and flip the front one over revealing the other side of the paper.

What do you think would someone special in your life be happy to receive this little bundle of Christmas gift cards?

More fun using the Envelope Punch Board

Did I tell you how much I loved the Envelope Punch Board?

Yep, love it.

Here is another bag and a dinky little box made from the classy Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The bag has 3 flowers which I made using a few different sized Scallop circle punches. The lower flower is holding the flap in place. This photo does not do it justice, it looks so classy.

This little cutie pie box has a gold belly band to hold it in place and the gold centre from the Thinlit die set Delicate Ornament.

Envelope Punch Board projects

Yesterday I started on an Envelope Punch Board trip through the Holiday Catalogue. I used the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper and the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper. Both very different designs, the Home for Christmas paper has fun prints on it and takes you back to your childhood, not a bad thing!

The Winter Wonderland paper oozes style and class. The gold and black are so rich. Today I used the Winter Wonderland to make these little bags.

This bag I decided to use the white with the gold specks and turn the flaps out to show the black. I punched out a gold circles and a black circles, punched a hole in the centres and tied together with the beautiful new gold ribbon.

This was made with the black side and I made extra pieces in white to slot in an over the top tab. The tassel I made using a strip if gold and used my fringe scissors, then rolled it up

Thank you for a great tool

This post today is dedicated to a very sharing lady I have never met, but if I did I would give her a big hug to say " Thank You"

She has developed a calculator for our envelope punch board to make not only envelopes but boxes as well. So here is a big "THANK YOU" Joanne James from Crafty Owl.
Below are the links to the..
This makes creating boxes and envelopes so quick and easy, I was so excited when I found this tool last year.

Getting close to Christmas has found me grabbing my trusty Envelope Punch Board a little more often. I have been playing with some of the new papers from the Holiday Catalogue.

How to make a Christmas Card

Now who would have thought that while chatting away in your craft room that you could make a Christmas Card.

We had just finished a class and one of the ladies was looking at all my stamp sets. She saw the stamp set Festival of Trees and said she also had it and wondered if it would make a similar card to the one we had just finished. We decided the tree was too small but I had it in my hand and couldn't resist inking it up. We kept chatting and I kept inking and stamping and cutting and masking.

Well, what do you know it looked ok, so I found a sentiment, glued it on to some Mint Macaroon card and popped on a few rhinestones. We both just laughed and decided it looked pretty good for a card that was inspired by a throw away question.

Quota Craft and Gift Fair

Every year Quota International of Carindale holds a Craft and Gift Fair
This year is going to be even bigger as they have moved to a bigger venue. The new venue is the Carina PCYC. The entire building and the grounds will be used for the Fair.

Inside the main hall...
There will be the usual Craft stalls, where you will be able to purchase handmade goods. There will be something for everyone, jewelry, craft products and kits, sewing materials, wood turned objects and ready made products. A great way to get the Christmas list filled.

Some of the exhibitors will be demonstrating their wares throughout the day at their stands. I for one love standing and watching creativity in action.

Also in the main hall you may be lucky enough to win one of the half hourly door prizes. If they are not claimed don't despair the lucky number gets put up on a board and you can claim it at any time throughout the day.

At the end of the day, you could be the lucky winner of a Sewing Machine. This is our door prize donated by River City Sewing. You must be there at the time of drawing.

On Stage...
11am - A fashion parade will be showing beautiful fashions by Sobidah . As it is coming up for Melbourne Cup you might find something for the big day.

 On Stage Presentations...
10am - In the Presentation area Dr Kathleen Berry will be presenting Fashion Design and Pattern Making in the presentation area. Whatever your body shape or size.  Create garments that make you look good and feel great.

12 noon- Also in the Presentation area you will be able to say hello to me and hear my presentation on Let's Start at the Very Beginning. What ever hobby that you have there are always the starting items that you will need. I will share with you the basics of card making and how to gather a starter kit together.

2pm - The Final presentation for the day in the  Presentation area Dr Kathleen Berry will again be presenting Fashion Design and Pattern Making in the presentation area. Whatever your body shape or size.  Create garments that make you look good and feel great.

Front Room...
For the avid reader we have a Book Fest. Come and peruse the tables and you might just find the book you have been searching for.

Quilt Room...
Quilts will be on display and possibly some will be for sale. There will be a Viewers Choice to vote for the best quilt of the day.

On the Verandah...
Workshops will be running throughout the day. Card making, sewing and jewelry making. The first workshop is at 9.30am and the last of the day is at 315pm. Check out the times on the back of the flyer attached.

Is all this making you hungry ? Cafe 42 will be open all day for coffee, cakes and lunch. So take a break, sit and recharge, then head back for more fun.

Outside...
