Hosting a Workshop

How would you like an extra $40 in Hostess rewards? You can, all you need to do is host a workshop.
Starting 3rd January, hosts with qualifying orders can receive additional Stampin’ Rewards. Below is a table showing, qualifying amounts and additional Stampin’ Rewards you can receive.

So busy..

Have you missed me? I have been so busy these last few weeks. Only 4 more days and I can breathe a sigh of relief. WHY? Quota's annual charity Craft and Gift Fair will be over. This will be eight years of organising a very fun fair. Here is a little background on how this event came about. Eight years ago my friend Janette and I had spent a very slow, hot, day trying to sell raffle tickets for our club Quota International of Carindale. By the end of the day we realised that people are so sick of putting their hands in their pockets for charities. So over a cup of coffee we decided there must be a better way to make money for our charities that appeal to the public. I had just been to a craft fair and suggested we should do something like that. So it was decided that this is what we would try. We booked a room at the Carina Leagues Club and managed to gather together a very talented group of stall holders. The day went well and we made $500.  So much more fun than selling raffle tickets. All the money went to Aspergers Syndrome and Clef Pals. We decided this would be an annual event, held at the same time each year. Last year was our best ever we raised $4000, so we are looking to top that this year.

Now you may hear Janette and I talk about Quota this and Quota that. Even though everyone has heard of Rotary and Lions nobody seems to know much about Quota.

Here is a little overview of what Quota is all about.

Quota International of Carindale is a service organization whose focus is to assist the Speech and Hearing Impaired and address the needs of Disadvantaged Women and Children. Quota International was one of the first professional women’s organisations founded in the United States. Our club also participates at an international level by financially supporting worthy projects, such as the Quota house for destitute women and children in New Delhi, India. So if you have nothing to do on Sunday 14 October, come along to the Carina Bowls Club and make a day of it. You will also be supporting two very worthy causes.

You had me at the cover....

Wow it has been ages since I have found the time to write something. One of the reasons is the new 2012 - 12013 Catalogue. It is so full of things I want/need and projects I will be making as soon as I can decide which one is going to be first. Do I sound excited? Yep I am.


My friend Liz was at a market a while back and was showing the catalogue to an interested customer. As Liz was guiding her through the pages and explaining some of the new goodies, the lady turned around to Liz and said " You had me at the cover!" Basically that is just how I felt.

I love the new punches, and there are so many new embossing folders not to mention all the new stamps, so I have decided to put up some of my favourites each day. So keep an eye out for my top five favourites.

As though checking out one catalogue isn't fun enough. How spoilt are we to have 2 fabulous new catalogues at once? Stampin' Up have decided to bring us in line with the US and Canada. So instead of the usual 4 mini catalogues throughout the year we are only getting 2 per year. The good thing about this is that it gives us more time to buy, this catalogue runs till 31 January 2013 and it is bigger, 40 pages chock full of gorgeous new product that I can't wait to use. I have tried out a few of the products already at our recent Paper Angels Demonstrator meetings, and from my pre-order (just one of the perks of being a demonstrator!) and I just love them. Check out the Festive Cover I am going to have a go at making it so stay tuned.

A taste of things to come

I love punch art and for a craft fair recently I created these little gift cards to teach in our workshops.
The bat and ball was made from the word window punch and a circle punch.
The VW I must give my lovely husband credit for this. It was made from 2 oval punches and parts of the Owl punch. Yep the Owl punch.
The hat was made from the oval and a circle punch.
Last but not least was the little ballet dress. It was made from an oval and circle punch and a flower.

I love them all and everyone had so much fun doing them. Stay posted for the instructions.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all. What does this year hold for all of us? I know mine is going to be filled with spending more time with family and friends. I am also going to be more organised with my scrapbooking and my cards.
How many of us want to make a lovely home made birthday or mothers day card and we leave it so late that we end up racing out and buying a card? Count me guilty as charged. So this year I am going to be prepared. I have written up my diary of special dates and have started making my birthday cards. I have even managed some cute little easter cards.
Even Christmas is getting an early start, watch this space for some of my stack. I am also going to start running Stamp-A-Stack card workshops for those interested in getting a head start.
