Embossed techniques from April card class

Have you all thought that embossing was just sprinkling embossing powder on a stamped image and then using a heat gun to set it. It can be much more than that. My class had a ball trying a few of the methods I had prepared.

Usually they only make 3 cards but I wanted them to get a good taste of the techniques, so this is what we came up with.

First off the rank was a tag, we stamped an image and then masked it. Then stamped an image in Versamark and sprinkled it with Early Espresso Embossing Powder. Finally we sponged over the embossing in three different colours. So basically going over other techniques, sponging and masking.

Here are a few that we tried with other colours.

Then we did some double embossing. All the ladies chose different coloured ribbon and flowers, so each one looked unique.

Double embossing technique class

Using Water colour paper we spread Hot glue over it to create a design. Then some sprinkled fine glitter over the glue and then reheated with a heat gun to set. The others daubered Accore Gold on the glue with a sponge dauber, also setting with a heat gun. Finally they spritzed the card with water and using ink refills they coloured it in. They all looked so good and so different I wish I had taken photos of them all. Click on the images to enlarge.

I made a few samples for them to choose from and glitter seemed to win hands down.

Lastly we did this little cutie. There is something about a 3x3 card that makes it sooooo cute. We stamped the design in versamark and then sprinkled over with black embossing powder. Then added the finishing layers.

I just love this little sweetie of a card.

Everyone loved the hot glue method as it was so different. After they all left I then got to thinking what it would look like if an image was stamped on the card first and then the glue was traced over the image. So I stamped the lovely swirls from Elegant Elenor and traced the glue over the image. Then I sprinkled Pool Party embossing powder over the glue and set with the heat gun. This image is only a first attempt but I think it could work so I am going to play with it. What do you think?

Faux Silk Class done and dusted

This was such a popular technique class and so easy to create beautiful cards.
This first card used DSP as the background for the silk. Glue was run over the DSP and then the tissue was crinkled up and then spread out over it. A very quick and easy way of making a very pretty card.

This card was created by first stamping on the card and then glue was run over the card. The tissue was then crinkled up and spread over the card. I then ran it through the Big Shot.

Finally we did this beautiful card. The top layer was stamped with Stazon, on to the tissue and then with the Aqua painter the flowers were filled in. Glue was run over the card. Then the tissue was crinkled up and spread over the card.
The bottom layer was created by stamping with Stazon directly on to the card and then filled in with the Aqua painter. Glue was run over this card. Then the tissue was crinkled up and spread over the card.

What is the Box Buster?

Stampin' Ups! mission statement, is called the Statement of the Heart, and reads: To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments . . . in this we make a difference.

This is so true of many of our demonstrators all around the world. I have just found one such demonstrator in the UK that has created the Box Buster.  Joanne James has generously shared this with us demonstrators and given permission for us to share it around.

What is the Box Buster?

It is a tool that takes the hard work out of creating any size box using our Stampin' Up! Envelope Punch Board and this free tool.

Put in the measurement of the box you wish to make and then hit the "Calculate" button and you will be given the paper size and the score lines needed to make your box. Head on over to The Crafty Owl website and check it out for yourself. If you still haven't got an Envelope Punch Board then head on over to my Online shop or email me and become addicted like me.

Baby Wipe class

Oops I thought I had already posted this but I had left it in draft.......

I love doing something a bit creative and sharing it with my friends. The Baby Wipe class was a fun class and everyone loved all the cards they made. Because one of the classes was before Valentines day I offered my ladies the option of making a Valentines card as well.

This is it, I recon it could be used for any occasion. All you need to do is change the sentiment.

Here are the rest of the cards we made. I quite like the fussy cutting of the flowers.

This last one was created by placing a piece of Whisper White on the baby wipe. It makes such a great background, don't you think.

I'm looking forward to my next lot of classes. We will be doing Faux Silk. I love that technique and have a few ideas on some yummy cards. Here are the class details.

Classes start this week

After having a break over Christmas it is good to get back to classes this week. I have some great techniques planned for this year starting with the Baby Wipe technique. You may already have seen this technique, but I have put a slight twist on it. Why not come along and make a few cards using this great technique.

As Valentines day is coming up this Friday, the Wednesday classes will have the option to make one of their cards as a Valentines card to give to their sweet heart. Unfortunately Fridays class won't have the Valentines option but you will make some terrific cards.

Here's a sneak peek.

The first class this year is this Wednesday morning the 12th at 10am.

Class details:
Wednesday 12 February 10am $10
Wednesday 12 February 7pm $10
Friday 14 February 7pm $10
Please BYO Basic tool Kits and Adhesives to all classes

Please let me know if you would like to attend so that I can make sure I cut enough kits.

Occasions catalogue and Sale a bration launch

What a great time of year, a new Occasions catalogue and Sale a bration all roled into one.  My launch on Saturday focused on making projects out of the Catalogue and the free goodies from Sale e bration.
We had a great day, created beautiful cards and tags. Everyone had a goodies bag, we played games and wiled away the day in creativity.

These tags I made to pop into the goodies bag. I used the new Fringe Scissors to make the cute fringing.

From the Occasions catalogue and Sale e bration catalogue gift tags

Also made some cute triangle shaped gift boxes edged in Washi tape as prizes for our games.

Finally we finished with a cute little gift card using another free stamps set and matching free punch. I love it when you have a punch that coordinates with a stamp set.
