Spotlight technique classes

This was a quiet month for classes. However it gave me the time to get my new studio organised. The ladies that came thoroughly enjoyed the technique of Spotlighting and Reverse Spotlighting.

As usual I loved all the samples I made for the classes and couldn't decide which one the ladies should do so, I let them choose.  Here was their first choice, this is reverse spotlighting. Reverse spotlighting is achieved by highlighting part of your image by punching a window and layering a stamped image underneath. In this first card we created several punched out windows using the Hexagon die. We stamped some bees and then stamped the bees again on to Crushed Curry card and cut them out. We then layered several of the bees underneath.

For the next Reverse spotlight card, we used our flowers. So different from the first but very pretty. Each of the ladies that chose to do this card used different colours and it was very interesting to see the dramatic differences in soft and bright colours.

The next card, and yes, yet again another choice. Soft spotlighting and framed spotlighting. The soft one is achieved by punching or ripping out a shape and colouring it in. This is then glued directly over the stamped image. Such a lovely soft and delicate image is achieved.

So pretty, but then so is this one. I love the framed spotlight, which is your favourite?

Our final card was clean and simple. Stamp an image in Basic Gray and then punch a circle and stamp on the circle in a colour. This got popped up with a dimensional. Very simple and quick to do. I love this technique, how about you?

Zena's Craft Studio

I think I have the best husband in the world. A few years ago I came home from work and found a lovely little studio taking up half our garage. My wonderful man had decided to make me a room of my own. I have been creating and having classes in this room for the last 2 years and in that time I have realised that I needed more room and shelving space. So once again my wonderful husband has stepped up and made me the most perfect studio.

Yesterday I combined a Holiday Catalogue launch with my Studio opening. We sat and chatted outside with a glass of wine until everyone arrived and then I did a tour of the studio and explained how the day would run.

I had set up the table into stations. There were 5 stations. The ladies could choose which station they started with first and then move around the table. Each of the stations had a sample of the card and the instructions on how to complete it.

Every lady was given a treat bag holding the Annual catalogue and the Holiday catalogue. A special little chockie gift made with the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlit Die and throughout the day they could choose from the treat basket after playing the Scavenger hunt.

The room was set up with display boards and of course my favourite tool the Envelope Punch Board had to have a special display. Gee I love this tool especially since I have now found another fellow Stampin Up demonstrator that is sharing her Box Buster tool with everyone.

Station 1 was giving the ladies a chance to play with the new Blendabilities and Envelope Punch board.

Station 2 gave them a chance to use our new Chalk Lines Photopolymer Stamp Set and the new inks.

Station 3 was a cute little tag made with the new Note Tag Punch and Merry Everything stamp set.

Station 4 was another tag, this time concentrating on the Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks and another photopolymer stamp.

Finally Station 5 was the Everyday Occasions card kit. I have never really taken a good look at them in the past but have been extremely impressed with them lately. Each lady chose a card from the box and then assembled it. What a great kit, I think this would make a lovely present for someone ready to go on a trip and doesn't want to take their entire craft room with them. Great on my camping trips I recon.
